Features of Lauan Plywood
High strength wood
"Lauan”is a hardwood of the Dipterocarpaceae family.
Because hardwoods grow slowly and slowly, they are characterized by high wood density and high strength. The surface color varies from reddish to whitish. Because of its roughness, it is not suitable for use as a surface material. They are not native to Japan and are all imported from Southeast Asia.
Base material in highly humid areas
Plywood made with water-resistant adhesive is called "water-resistant plywood.
It is used as a base material in wet areas and is also widely used as water-resistant plywood.
Applications of lauan plywood
It is very widely used for construction base, building material base, furniture base, DIY, etc.
Due to its stable supply and low cost, it is now a representative of plywood, but because it is a hardwood, its growth rate is slow, and log harvesting is decreasing year by year due to global restrictions on lumber harvesting. As a result, the materials for plywood are shifting to softwood and plantation lumber, which grow faster and are easier to plan production and harvest.
